New York Dreaming

14 Years

They sat silent on the rooftop in the blazing sun; the girl studied the two boys on either side of her and could not quite believe that they were here fourteen years later. As she gazed into their eyes she remembered it all-every smile, every tear, every fallout, every never-ending summer. She saw them as the boys that she knew and as the men they had become and she realised that she too had grown up-they were adults. And as she understood that each of them were on the cusp of of a brilliant future, that they were all standing alone at the beginning of their own separate path she did not want that day to end.
